FROM POOL TO THE SEA: HANS HARTMAN LEAVES BILLIARDS CLUB TO JOIN
TURNER FISHERIES AS NEW GENERAL MANAGER
BOSTON,
MA – June 1, 2004 – Turner Fisheries is proud to announce
the arrival of Hans Hartman as the seafood restaurant’s
new General Manager.
Hartman
has traded chalk for chowder coming to Turner Fisheries after
a six-year stint as General Manager of Boston Billiards Club.
His experience with Boston Billiards Club began as General Manager
at the West Springfield location before venturing to the city.
Between roles at the billiards club he served a short time as
Director of the Publick House in Sturbridge, MA where he managed
11 dining rooms, weddings, and special events.
A
native from the Netherlands, Hartman came to the United States
twenty years ago with a goal to run a top-rated restaurant and
lead it to success in the booming food industry. Today he is following
through on that goal by accepting the General Manager position
at Turner Fisheries Restaurant & Bar.
“I
am excited to join the team at Turner Fisheries,” exclaims
Hartman. “Turners is known for its fresh and outstanding
seafood. I look forward to working with the staff to take the
restaurant to the next level in guest experience.”
Hartman
is quite at ease with the fact that Turner Fisheries is located
in the Westin Copley Place Boston Hotel and is no stranger to
the hotel industry. He spent nine years with Marriott International
in several roles beginning as a management trainee and Restaurant
Manager at the Castle Harbour in Bermuda and going on to become
Restaurant Manager, Director of Restaurants, and finally Front
Office Manager at the Boston Newton Marriott.
Fluent
in English, Dutch and German, Hartman boasts a degree from Middelbare
Hotelschool in Groningen, Netherlands. He is also an honorary
recruiter for the United States Airforce. He was appointed General
Manager of Boston Billiards Club in 1997 and, finally accepted
the position as General Manager at Turner Fisheries in May of
2004.
The
famed Turner Fisheries has recently re-opened following a three
million-dollar renovation. The menu has been revised as well featuring
current, native seafood dishes and Turner’s Hall-of-Fame
clam chowder. The restaurant’s new design scheme includes
Terrazzo tile from Italy, floor to ceiling mahogany paneling,
Hollywood banquettes and seven-foot high French Café bi-fold
opening windows overlooking Copley Square. The most spectacular
addition is the creation of three new private dining rooms, which
can accommodate up to 140 people. Turner Fisheries is located
at the Westin Copley Place Hotel, 10 Huntington Avenue, Boston,
MA, 02116. Phone: (617) 424-7425. Visit us at www.turnersboston.com.
